5 French startups using generative AI to solve real business problems—from sales leads to employee training

France’s “French Tech” startup scene is crowded with AI pitches. But a handful of young companies are standing out by aiming generative AI at specific, practical pain points instead of trying to sell a one-size-fits-all platform.

French state-backed investment bank Bpifrance has singled out five startups as examples of how generative AI is taking root in concrete sectors—ranging from sales prospecting and image traceability to AI project audits, customer-data monetization, and workplace learning.

Sillage, Hado Mark, and OptimIA target lead generation, image traceability, and AI transparency

Sillage, co-founded by Arnaud Weiss and Arthur Coudouy, is taking on commercial prospecting. The company’s tool analyzes “weak signals” to spot potential customers before they’ve even expressed a need—an attempt to reduce how much luck still drives lead generation.

Hado Mark is playing on a different field: tracking where product images end up online. The startup’s three founders—Diego Meillassoux, Bruno Spilak, and Rémy Champetier de Ribes—built a traceability solution for product visuals. The pitch is blunt: “Brands want to know where their products go.” The built-in AI links an invisible signature to each image, then helps find it wherever it circulates on the web.[1]

OptimIA is moving into territory many startups avoid: auditing AI projects themselves. Julien Johann, the CEO and founder, sums up the challenge: “Generative AI is very opaque.” His company works with businesses and small and midsize companies to assess the robustness, compliance, and relevance of their AI deployments, as AI projects multiply without always having clear guardrails.

Eleya and Blify focus on customer-data monetization and more engaging corporate training

Eleya flips the usual customer-data playbook. Instead of helping brands collect more data, the startup founded by Hippolyte and Thomas enables companies to buy already-qualified data sold by users who explicitly consent. The model aims to bypass traditional intermediaries and respond to Europe’s GDPR privacy rules by putting the user at the center of the transaction.[1]

Blify, co-founded by Minh-Tu, Clément, and Tristan, is targeting professional training. The bet: make workplace learning both more fun and more measurable using generative AI. In a market where e-learning tools often struggle to keep employees engaged, Blify is building adaptive learning paths that adjust to each learner’s profile.

A common thread: generative AI as a tool, not the product

Across the five companies, the shared approach is clear: none is pitching generative AI as an end in itself. Instead, they’re selling it as leverage to solve a defined business problem—an attitude that, according to Bpifrance’s selection, appears to be spreading in France as the technology moves beyond its experimental phase.
