5 French startups using generative AI to solve real business problems—from sales leads to product image tracking

France’s French Tech ecosystem is crowded with AI pitches. But a handful of young companies are standing out by aiming generative AI at specific, practical pain points instead of trying to sell a one-size-fits-all platform.

France’s state-backed investment bank Bpifrance has highlighted five startups as examples of how generative AI is taking root in concrete sectors—ranging from sales prospecting and image traceability to AI project audits, customer-data monetization, and workplace training.

Sillage, Hado Mark, and OptimIA target lead detection, image transparency, and AI audits

Sillage, co-founded by Arnaud Weiss and Arthur Coudouy, is focused on sales prospecting. The company’s tool analyzes “weak signals” to spot potential customers before they’ve even expressed a need, with the goal of reducing the role of chance in lead generation.

Hado Mark is tackling a different problem: tracking where product images end up online. The startup’s three founders—Diego Meillassoux, Bruno Spilak, and Rémy Champetier de Ribes—built an image-traceability solution aimed at brands that want visibility into how their visuals circulate. “Brands want to know where their products go,” the company’s pitch says. Its built-in AI links an invisible signature to each visual and can then find that signature wherever the image travels across the web.[1]

OptimIA is operating in a niche many startups avoid: auditing AI projects themselves. Julien Johann, the founder and CEO, sums up the challenge bluntly: “Generative AI is very opaque.” His startup works with companies and small and midsize businesses to assess the robustness, compliance, and relevance of their AI deployments—at a moment when AI projects are multiplying without always having clear guardrails.

Eleya and Blify bet on user-consented data and more engaging workplace learning

Eleya flips the usual customer-data playbook. Instead of helping brands collect more data, the startup—founded by Hippolyte and Thomas—lets companies buy already-qualified data sold by users who explicitly consent. The model aims to bypass traditional intermediaries and address Europe’s GDPR privacy rules by putting the user at the center of the transaction.[1]

Blify, co-founded by Minh-Tu, Clément, and Tristan, is taking on professional training. The bet: make workplace learning both more playful and more measurable with generative AI. In a market where e-learning tools often struggle to keep employees engaged, Blify is building adaptive learning paths that adjust to each learner’s profile.

A common thread: generative AI as a tool, not the product

What links these five companies is their positioning: they aren’t selling generative AI as an end in itself. They’re pitching it as a lever to solve a clearly defined business problem—an approach that appears to be gaining traction in France as the technology moves beyond its experimental phase.
