French President Emmanuel Macron on June 1, 2026, announced €93 billion (about $100 billion) in foreign investment pledges tied to the ninth edition of the “Choose France” summit at the Palace of Versailles—an all-time high, according to the Élysée Palace, the French presidency.
The headline figure came alongside 71 separate announcements, a tally presented at the close of the one-day event. Macron had previewed the number days earlier in an interview with France’s regional press, and it surpasses every previous edition of the summit.
More than 200 foreign business leaders representing nearly 50 nationalities traveled to Versailles, according to Le Monde, citing AFP. Attendees included representatives from BYD, Ikea, BASF, Blackstone, and Goldman Sachs.
Americans were the largest group of executives, despite tariff-war tensions
U.S. executives remained the single biggest national contingent, accounting for 19% of participants, according to Le Monde with AFP—despite trade tensions linked to the tariff war launched under Donald Trump.
The Élysée highlighted a stronger presence of leaders from the Gulf and Asia, framing it as evidence that France is diversifying its economic partnerships.
What’s inside the €93 billion total—and how past totals were built
The €93 billion (about $100 billion) figure needs context. Based on data from the previous edition, the summit’s “consolidated” total typically includes a share of earlier announcements folded back into the headline number.
For the eighth edition in 2025, the €37 billion (about $40 billion) announced included €20 billion (about $21.6 billion) described as “entirely new” and €17 billion (about $18.4 billion) tied to prior artificial intelligence announcements. That precedent sheds light on the communications mechanics around the 2026 total.
Earlier editions were far smaller: €15 billion (about $16.2 billion) in 2024, €13 billion (about $14.0 billion) in 2023, and €6.8 billion (about $7.3 billion) in 2022.

A record summit set against stalled reindustrialization
The record total does not erase the industrial difficulties France has faced over the past two years, Le Monde reported. The 2026 edition was presented around growth sectors including energy, banking, and artificial intelligence, as well as tourism, heritage, audiovisual production, and filmmaking.
From Friday through Sunday ahead of the summit, France also staged a nationwide “open factories” initiative across the country.
The Versailles gathering followed a separate AI-focused summit held in Paris in February, where €109 billion (about $118 billion) in investments were announced.
Macron’s last international Choose France at Versailles
This ninth edition is the final Choose France summit of Macron’s second term in its international Versailles format. A final edition—limited to French companies only—is scheduled for the fall in Paris.
The long lag between announcements and real-world delivery was illustrated by the opening of the World of Frozen park at Disneyland Paris in March 2026, stemming from a €2 billion (about $2.2 billion) investment first announced at the 2018 summit.
